How Delicious!

That’s no ordinary donut up there. No, that’s actually a bracelet by craft artist Lynn Christiansen. I don’t know about you, but that makes me start drooling like Homer Simpson. I want that donut around my wrist. I also want her truffle necklaces, and possibly more than anything else, her whipped cream purse:

Christiansen said in the introduction to her 2009 show Maybe Just One More:

Food is my obsession. My earliest and my most vivid memories are centered on food. A dropped ice cream cone, a butterscotch candy pulled from my grandfather’s pocket, the ultimate warm cinnamon bun. First comes the memory I can taste… the perfect chocolate cake … then comes the who, where and when.

It’s true. Food is visceral, basic, and deeply sentimental. It can also be tremendously fun. After all, who wouldn’t delight in playing chess with slices of cake and ice cream cones?

I haven’t played in years, but I would take it up again in a heartbeat with a set like this!

Food isn’t the only motif Christiansen has used over the years. She’s also played with ideas of armor, leaves, gears, and chandeliers. Each one has produced some amazing work. You can check out her fabulous concepts and creations at her website. I recommend doing so right away… and maybe while enjoying a really good cupcake.
